Baked Apple Dumpling
Baked Apple Dumpling
Store bought pastry or homemade
1 x apple for each dumpling
sugar
nutmeg
Take the pastry and roll thin (as if for a pie crust) and cut the pastry into rounds the size of a large tea plate.
Pare and slice fine, one small apple for each dumpling.
Lay the apple on the crust, sprinkle a bit of sugar and nutmeg to taste.
Turn the edges of crust over the apple and press together.
Bake in a hot oven for twenty minutes.
Serve hot with ice cream or whipped cream or topping of your choice.
This was usually made with rich homemade pastry, but if you don't like to make pastry from scratch, the store bought works just as well.
