Kitchen Cupboards... so many choices!

Kitchen Cupboards are one of the most important parts of the kitchen, and we all know that kitchens rank number one for re-sale values of your home.

But, it can also get way out of hand. If your house is very old and needs renovations all over, then be careful how much you spend in the kitchen. There is no point in having a 40,000 dollar kitchen, if the roof is falling in, or the carpets in the rest of the house are thread bare, you will not get your investment back on resale. If you can manage to renovate the rest of the house on a wing and a prayer, then it may work, but you have to budget the whole house renovation with respects to how much the house could fetch on the market.

If your house is a thorn between two roses!.. you can do well, but if those "two roses" are valued at 300,000 dollars in fantastic shape, then you should not put so much money into your house that it needs to sell for higher than you neighbors, its just to hard a sell, believe me, I have been down that street before!

If you are building a house and you have a blank canvas to work with, and you have lots of kitchen budget money, and want to sit back and watch someone else install the kitchen of your dreams, then go for it!.. but in reality, most of us have to do this ourselves and on a budget to make it work.

When we did our kitchen cupboards, I came up with a plan of what we wanted based on the blueprints, and it was a small kitchen, so I didn't think there would be too much cost involved... WRONG, depending on the quality of your kitchen cupboards, and fronts and hardware it can be a HUGE difference. I went to 3 supplies and I got 3 totally different prices.. all which were too high for our budget.

We ended up getting those put together cupboards that were just as good quality as a couple of the suppliers, and spent the money on good doors, and accessories instead. Our kitchen cost 1/4 of the installed price by doing it this way, and we were then able to splurge on that granite countertop I always wanted.

There are so many choices out there, the best thing you can do, is have a good idea of what you want before you submit your kitchen plan to any supplier.. you can be so easily talked into the "while you are at it" syndrome, be very careful of this! ... or your cash will just disappear... and make sure you stick to the "working triangle" which is making sure your sink, appliances, and work top are within short distance, you do not want to walk to the other end of the kitchen for the fridge, and then back to the other side for the sink!.. unless of course this is how you get your daily exercise.

Picture youself in your kitchen cooking your favorites, and then decide on what you need and then what you want.. On the following pages are some great ideas for your kitchen cupboards.. browse and I hope to inspire the creator in you!
